Sometimes dental emergency can’t be avoided, but what can you do when something happens and before you go to your dentist you need to take care of yourself, based on what issues you are facing:

  • If you lost your filling, you can use unconventional ways to preserve the created space. Use a sugar free gum and stick a small piece in the cavity, make sure that you rinse your mouth before you place a gum and go see your dentist as soon as you can.
  • The most common problem is Toothaches. To relieve yourself from the pain before you go and see your dentist you need to do couple of things. Rinse your mouth with warm water as there is a chance that it will hurt if you use cold or hot water. Use dental floss and remove any food that might be lodged between teeth and apply something cold on your tooth on the outside. After all of that is go to emergency dental clinic if they are not available in your town make sure to call and go first thing in the morning.
  • Something lodged between teeth – even if it doesn’t sound like a dental emergency it can be serious. Before you make a call to your dentist make sure to try and get that object out of your teeth. Use ONLY dental floss to do that. Use it gently and try to fix the problem, if you can’t fix it do not use any other objects like toothpicks to fix the problem as you can easily make it worse. Call your dentist and make an appointment.
  • If you have issue and your crown fell out – make a call to your dentist and schedule your appointment, make sure to bring your crown with you. On the other hand if you can’t get to your dentist right away and your tooth is causing you pain there are ways that you can ease your pain, use a little clove oil on sensitive area. Clove oil will soothe the area and relieve you from the pain. If it hurts a lot you need to get to your dentist as soon as possible.
